He was discharged due to being unfit for further service. His conduct was described as very good. Veteran Affairs received information that he died Feb. 1, 1968 in Edmonton. He received a small pension for his disabled right arm.
Medical Records: On his way to Halifax, he was in the St. Joseph's hospital for 4 days in Sudbury, ON for bronchitis. He got his shots on August 1916. On Sept. 6, 1917, he got shot in the right arm and suffered a compound fracture and was in the hospital for the rest of the war. He was treated in the Kingston, ON Queen's Military Hospital on June 6, 1918 for the same wound. On July 11, 1918, he got his teeth cleaned and four fillings.
Military Movements: He arrived in England on the Empress of Britain on Nov. 11, 1916 after serving with the 195th battalion for six months. He arrived in France on Dec. 31, 1916. He served with the 52nd battalion from January 1917 to August 26, 1917. He went to the hospital on Sept. 4, 1917 and went home invalided on the SS Araguary on May 25, 1918. By 1921, Robert moved to Kindersley, SK where he worked as grain buyer. He had married Florence Osbourne by this time and had two children, John and William. Robert died in Three Hills, AB on Feb 2, 1966. His wife died in 1999.
